Motorul si noua 8 cilindri 2300,isi fac prima aparitie in "Mille Miglia"din 1931,unde Nuvolari,cu ceva probleme obtine numai un loc 9.Totusi Nuvolari invinsese la "Targa Florio"din acel an,pe o ploaie puternica.Triunful Alfa Romeo vine la "Gran Premio d"Italia",desfasurat la Monza in 24 Mai 1931,valid pentru prima oara,pentru "Coppa Europa".Pe primele 2 locuri se claseaza 2 Alfa Romeo "Monza",echipate cu un 8C 2300,conduse de perechile Nuvolari & Campari si Borzacchini & Minoia. Directorul sportiv al echipei corse oficiale Alfa Romeo,era Enzo Ferarri.
Este ultimul model de masina cu care Enzo Ferrari a concurat intr-o cursa si a invins.(in 14 Iunie 1931,Enzo Ferarri a cistigat competitia "Bobbio -Passo del Penice"cu o Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 MM).
